Super fun FHE
Lance did a great family home evening on being careful how we talk and being a peacemaker. He had all the kids completely squish out a tube of toothpaste onto a plate and then ask them to put the toothpaste back in.
This was a great object lesson about how when we say things it's difficult to take them back.
We also watched a video of the two ladies totaling their cars after one lady made a small bump on the car door of the other lady. The kids thought it was hilarious. Talk about escalation .

Christmas 2010
IT'S CHRISTMAS!
We had to go get the kids at 7:00 if we were going to have time to open any presents before church. Here they are behing the 'ribbon gate' telling them to not come up before 7, come straight to our room and don't touch anything.
My mom, dad, and sister Carli all came down to go to church with us on Christmas. Lance put together a great program with lots of music. Going to church on Christmas really made it perfect. Afterwards we came back to the house for brunch and stockings.

For Christmas Ethan got a fully automatic nerf gun with 2 30 dart clips. He never put it down. Lance and my dad also got nerf guns but of a smaller variety. Since the weather was nice they had an all out war in my parents backyard. They had so much fun. Lance was in the house, on his belly, with the nerf gun sticking out the doggy door. Too funny.

Lounging around after things had settled down. This dog is such a snuggler. Here he is in his Christmas sweater. I am embarrased for him but he is so little if he gets too cold he shivers.

To start off the holiday season we of course put up the tree decorated the house and Lance put up his fancy Christmas lights on the house. But this year we decided to give the kids their gift from mom and dad early...
Meet Leo! We think he's a chihuahua-terrier mix. He is a 2 yr old, 6lb dog that my mom rescued out of a busy intersection in Sandy. He is so mellow, loves to snuggle but will play rough, too. And he can JUMP! We never hear a peep out of him unless someone comes to the door. Luckily, he takes Elizabeth's pestering in stride. We love having a dog!

Our December was packed full of holiday fun. I am realizing I took much more video than still pics. First we went to see the lights at Temple Square with Grammy, Pop, GG, Grandpa Ken and even aunt Carli and her friend Cheri were visiting from Vegas. It was PACKED. But, as always, the lights were amazing.
Mom and I vowed to get shopping done early so the rest of the month was available for having fun and being together. We went to see the light festival in Spanish Fork. This followed by a trip to Dairy Queen afterwards has become a family tradition. The kids try and decide what display is new that year. Elizabeth was amazed by the lights and pointed and squealed the whole time.
We strung popcorn while we watched the movie "Elf".
The kids decorated a gingerbread house.
We made endless treats and played games.
We started a new tradition this year. We took the kids up to Candy Cane Corner which services a few of the local homeless shelters and made a donation of new items for Christmas. First, we went to Walmart and told the kids they could spend $20 to buy things that a kid their age would want. One of the items had to be underwear or socks and the rest could be clothes or toys.
Once we made our purchases we drove to SLC. At the donation center they told us about the families who would be receiving the gifts and gave us a tour of the center. You could tell the message was sinking in but the clincher came on the ride home. By accident we drove past two of the shelters and many people were standing outside. The kids asked questions and we gave answers the best we could. The Spirit was strong as everyone was feeling a little more grateful for the blessings we enjoy.

November is cider making season so off we went to Burley, Idaho where Lance's family presses their own cider with apples from their own trees. This was a very fun quick trip to give us a taste of country life. We got about 70 gallons that day and they will do over 500 gallons of cider by the time they are done.

Ethan is lookin' sharp in his cowboy garb. He really enjoyed his 4th grade program about the history of Utah.
The county installed a 48 in water main directly behind our house. This was a major project and the heavy equipment they used kept the kids entertained for 2 weeks straight. I wish all my neices and nephews and their moms could have come to see it. We could have left the kids, gone on a cruise, and be back before they even missed us.
We had a great thanksgiving with my mom's extended family. For an FHE we made a 'Giving Thanks' turkey.

Halloween
I love Halloween. Lance looked awesome in his fro. Ethan was the grim reaper, Syd was the tooth fairy, and for the 3rd year in a row Anna was a black cat. Elizabeth was a flapper girl.

Ethan decided to not go trick-or-treating this year and stayed home to hand out candy. I took the girls out and when I got back he had the bowl of candy on the porch with a note that said, "Take One". Then he just sat by the bowl in his creepy costume. Now some would jump out at the trick-or-treaters but he never did. Everyone just thought he was going to so they were freaked out. I wished we had a hidden camera. It was so funny.

Happy Un-Birthday Ethan!
The good thing about having your birthday on Christmas Eve is that really you end up getting 3 birthdays. At least that is how it works around here. We had a super fun time at Ethan's party. Michael, Kolton, Hyrum, and Brady were there along with Syd and Anna. We only got pictures of the arcade games but the funnest part was the lazer tag games. Ethan made his own invitation...

Fall means FOOTBALL!!
I am usually a pretty easygoing gal. It takes quite a bit to get me riled up. As such, I was unprepared for the intense feelings I experienced as a football mom!
Bad calls, 1st down, offsides, extra point, missed blocks, sack, fumble, 5 second crazy, TOUCHDOWN! I love football and what is even more fun is when your son is having fun playing the game. Here is how it all began...

Ethan could not wait and first thing the next morning...
Oops. That's embarrassing.
At first, before school started, they had practices 4 days a week for 2 hours each. Later, 3 days a week for 2 hours. And when they were running out of daylight, they practiced for 1 1/2 hours, 3 days a week with games on Saturday. We didn't know what we were getting ourselves into.
Not being the aggressive type, it took Ethan a little while to really believe that he was not going to get in trouble if he pushed, shoved and tackled. It was an adjustment...but then, he started to like it. Muuuwhahahaha.
At first he was second string but was quickly bumped up to start on the offensive and defensive lines. Those were tiring games, playing both sides. Eventually he found his niche on the offensive line and even won the 'offensive stud' award for creating "monster holes". He still got in on defense and also played center when the play called for shotgun.
He would end up with 3 team awards, his "O-Stud" award and not 1 but 2 "Heart" awards for his super attitude, perserverence, hard work, and being willing to do whatever the coaches needed him to do.

Even when things got tough he didn't let it get him down. During his playoff game he jumped offsides. It was the only time he jumped all season. He was devasted at first but soon shook it off. Way to bounce back!
